TPO is a single-ply roofing material made of ethylene propylene rubber. TPO roofs have excellent heat reflective properties and are ENERGY STAR rated. The Cool Roof Rating Council also considers it a cool roof, which helps keep your property cooler and reduces energy costs.
TPO roofs are 100% recyclable at the end of their life span, resist algae, dirt, and debris build up and withstand harmful ultraviolet rays. They are durable and resistant to punctures, tears, and impact damage as well.
There are three methods of installation for a thermoplastic olefin (TPO) roof:
Adhesion - The TPO Roof is attached to the underlayment using a strong adhesive creating a strong, waterproof seal
Mechanical - The TPO Roofing materials are attached directly to the underlayment using screws. The TPO material is overlapped to prevent any gaps and create a strong seal. Overlapping pieces are bonded together using hot air welding to ensure they remain waterproof.
Ballast - Heavy material such as gravel or rock is placed on top of the TPO membrane to keep it in position. The perimeter of the roof is fully sealed to ensure it remains waterproof.
