EPDM Roofing

Highly durable membrane roofing systems for commercial application

Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer (EPDM)

Specifically designed for low-slope commercial roofing applications, EPDM delivers an extremely durable and highly resistant roofing system.

What is EPDM?

Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer, or EPDM, is a rubber roofing membrane used for low-slope commercial roofing. EPDM is highly durable and offers ultraviolet protection and weather resistance. Some of the benefits of EPDM roofing include:

  • Proven hail resistance
  • Flexibility in lower temperatures
  • Resistant to weathering
  • Resistant to extreme heat and fire
  • High wind uplift ratings
  • High UV Resistance

EPDM Roofing Lifespans

EPDM roofs generally have a lifespan of 15-25 years. The lifespan of your installation is widely dependent on environmental conditions such as weather, foot traffic, and the overall building it is being applied to. The biggest enemy for EPDM roofs is rain water collection, and the duration in which rain water remains on the roof vs. evaporation time. However, EPDM roofing systems are one of the easiest roofing systems to repair, allowing an EPDM roofing system to be an excellent choice for commercial application in the long run.

EPDM Roof Installation

EPDM Roofing systems are relatively easy to install and tend to be much faster to install than other commercial roofing systems due to the size of the sheets available. EPDM materials can be produced in sizes up to 10,000 square feet, which eliminates having multiple seams throughout the roof.

Generally, EPDM roofs are installed using a bonding adhesive to adhere the EPDM material to the surface of the roof. This can be done over top of existing roofing systems, however, it is best to remove any existing roofing prior to installing the EPDM roof to ensure that the application remains perfectly flat, and eliminate the risk of any leaks from gaps between the two systems.
